Abstract
A new technique and report of two cases Especially, augmented repair techniques are used in defective Achilles tendon ruptures, but it carries an incidence of wound complications like tendon adherence to the skin and other soft tissues which is an important minor complication. We planned a new flap technique for preventing the tendon adherence and twisted the gastrocnemius aponeurotic median flap 180 degrees on itself, so that its smooth external surface lies next to the skin and covers the site of rupture. We operated on two patients with defective Achilles tendon rupture by using this new flap technique. At the end of 12 and 17 month follow-up period, there were no wound problems and no major complications like rerupture. Satisfactory overall results and very good functioning was achieved in two patients.
