Abstract

In adult patients with hip pain avasculer necrosis, infection, arthritis, and neoplasm must be evaluated in differential diagnosis. Clinical, radiological, and laboratory findings are most important factors for making accurate diagnose. Bone marrow edema syndrome of the hip (BMES) is another disorder which has unknown etiology, and self limiting behavior and must be inside the differential diagnosis of the hip pain. Be aware of the disease is cornerstone of the accurate diagnose of BMES. A 32-year-old man with hip pain was evaluated as bone marrow edema syndrome of the hip according to the radiological (x-ray, magnetic resonance imaging) and laboratory findings. Protection of the hip from load and NSAID were used for pain control in the treatment. At the 6 month follow-up he was pain free, there was no any abnormality in control x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging.
