Abstract

In bone and soft tissue tumors, diagnosis is the most important point of planning and applying treatment. It is evident that all clinical, radiological and histological data should be assessed together. There is no doubt that histology of bone and soft tissue tumors is the most important criteria. For this reason, besides open biopsy, closed biopsy techniques have been used to get specimen from neoplastic tissues and have become preferable procedures because of their simplicity and low complication rates. In this study, the results were unrepresentative in 17 (25.8%) of 66 patients who had needle aspiration and only in 8 (8%) of 100 patients with trocar biopsy. In conclusion, trocar and needle aspiration biopsy can be considered as valuable methods in bone and soft tissue tumours.
