Abstract
Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the normal range of center-edge (CE) angle values in the Turkish population.
Method: CE angle of Wiberg was measured in 1316 normal hips of 658 healthy children and adults (362 female and 296 male) with an average age of 34.5 (5-75) years. 157 of them were younger than 16 years. Statistical analysis of the data was made and a P value less than 0.05 was considered significant.
Results: Average CE angle of all hips was 32.5° (12-56). Mean CE value of left hips was 0.9° greater than the one of right hips (P=0.02) and mean CE value of hips of males was 1.6° greater than the one of hips of females (PConclusion: Normal CE angle values obtained in this study were somewhat different from the ones obtained in the previous international studies. We believe that measurement values obtained in our population have to be used as a reference for better evaluation of the results in our studies where radiographic measurements have been performed.
