Abstract

The goals of treatment in bladder exstrophy are to provide continence with preservation of renal function, to reconstruct functional external genitalia and to obtain a secure closure of bladder and abdominal wall. Several pelvic osteotomies have been defined to help genitourinary reconstruction performed in order to achieve these goals. There is no functional impairment from a pure orthopaedic view but patients must be followed up for possible patellofemoral problems.
