Thousands of patients in 11 provinces were affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, described as the disaster of the century. The workload of the Orthopedics and Traumatology doctors who worked with dedication in this earthquake was very heavy. After the earthquake, many patients were referred to large centers.
Hundreds of patients were referred to our hospital due to the Kahramanmaraş earthquake and most of these patients were directly or indirectly related to Orthopedics and Traumatology. We wanted to share our experiences regarding the treatment of these patients in the article titled ‘‘Hyperbaric oxygen therapy does not change the amputation level in patients with fasciotomy after an earthquake: Our single-center experience after 2023 Kahramanmaras earthquake. doi: 10.52312/jdrs.2023.1104".[1] However, it was determined that the corresponding author and the first author accidentally transferred the patients' data incorrectly while editing the Excel file. As mentioned above, it was completely determined that there was confusion in patient information while organizing the data in the study due to the intensity of the workload after the earthquake. Therefore, the authors believe that an article with an unintentional data error on a socially important issue such as an earthquake should not be included in the literature.
The authors apologies to all readers and to the editors of Joint Disease and Related Surgery for this error caused by the corresponding author and the first author, and request that the publication be retracted.
Due to the errors mentioned above and apologies of the authors of the article with title “Hyperbaric oxygen therapy does not change the amputation level in patients with fasciotomy after an earthquake: Our single-center experience after 2023 Kahramanmaras earthquake. doi: 10.52312/jdrs.2023.1104,[1]’’ this situation was reviewed by the journal Joint Disease and Related Surgery editors, and it was decided to retract the article.
