Retraction notice: Adhering to the Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines on retraction, this article has been retracted upon the request of the Editor-in-Chief.

It has been brought to the attention of the Editor- in-Chief of Joint Diseases and Related Surgery that the study entitled “Open reduction internal fixation versus minimally invasive percutaneous fixation for calcaneus fractures: Mid-term outcomes and social consequences” (doi: 10.52312/jdrs.2021.95)[1] is a product of misconduct due to material and data fabrication. After a thorough review by the Editors of Joint Diseases and Related Surgery, both institutional representative and corresponding author of the study were consulted regarding the decision of retraction.

The institution where all surgeries and follow-up were reported, i.e., University of Health Sciences, Gülhane Training and Research Hospital Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, formally acknowledged Joint Diseases and Related Surgery that the authors had no formal access to the institutional data from between January 2010 and January 2016, despite having an approval from the University of Health Sciences Ethics Committee (Date: 30.11.2020, No: 2020/427). The institution also informed that clinical images presented in the article were from a recent surgery performed in the same department, outside of the reported follow-up period.

The Editors of Joint Diseases and Related Surgery, therefore, certify that they have no confidence in the integrity and veracity of the data presented.

The authors stated that unreliable data were caused by honest errors in reporting the center where surgeries and follow-up were performed and in providing clinical images as a sample. They have agreed with the retraction and would like to express their apologies.
