Abstract

380 upper extremity amputees who had been fitted with prosthesis in Hacettepe University Prosthetics-Orthotics and Biomechanics Unit of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation School were evaluated. Finally, it is seen that 23.96 percent of the patients are female, 76.04 percent are male. 51.01 percent of the patients are right extremity amputees and 48.99 percent of them are left extremity amputees. It is found that the traffic and industrial accidents are the primary causes of there amputations. When the amputation level is researched, below elbow amputees were in the first row. Prosthetic treatment period was found to be longer in elbow disarticulation patients.
