Abstract

In this paper, the early results of 51 press-fit cementless arthroplasties performed in 48 patients have been presented. Prostheses used in this study, were tricompartmental and minimally constrained. 45 of the patients were female and 3 others male, and average age was 60 during implantation. Total knee arthroplasty was applied bilaterally in 6 cases. Average follow-up was 17 months (4-50 months). The preoperative diagnosis were primary osteoarthritis in 33 knees, rheumatoid arthritis in 14, ankylosing spondylitis in 2, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in 1 and Behcet's syndrome in 1. Clinical evaluation was performed according to the "Knee Society Clinical Rating System" and the radiological evaluation was performed according to the "Knee Society Radiological Rating System" by antero-posterior, lateral and whole leg w eight-bearing roentgenograms. The tibiofemoral alignment and the tilt of the tibial component were measured and radiolucency was evaluated in all cases. Significant improvements in knee and functional scores have been achieved without any major complication in short-term period.
