Abstract
In this experimental work both cadaver and freshly amputated ankle specimens were used to study macroscopic anatomy of the ankle, arthroscopic portals and their relations with the surrounding tissues and arthroscopic anatomy of the ankle. Dissections to determine the superficial and deep tissues were performed fastidiously on 4 fixed cadaver and 6 freshly amputated ankle specimens. Classical arthroscopic portals were evaluated. In order to study the intraarticular arthroscopic anatomy a distractor applied to the lateral side of the tibia and calcaneus was used.
