Abstract
"Foam Block" was used in 107 lower extremities of 63 patients between April 1995 and January 1997, to prevent heel pressure sores and/or to maintain a certain position. There were no complaints or complications in any patients, arising from its use. Foam Block is a cheap material and easy to get. In consideration of the ease of its fabrication and use, it provides an efficient treatment and protection. Therefore, we recommend to use Foam Block in order to prevent heel pressure sores and to maintain adequate positions in recumbent patients.
