Glomus Tumors

Abstract

The authors report a series of 13 patients with glomus tumors among the well established 1917 musculo-skeletal system tumors. 11 of them were treated surgically. All were located in the hand with one exception (92.3 %). Diagnosis depended on clinical suspicion in 77% (10 patients). An osseous defect was seen on plain X-ray films in 50%. For the excision of tumors in the subungual localization a direct transungual approach was used (62 %). Surgical dissection and complete excision almost always offer permanent relief.
