Lateral Release and Medial Shrinkage on Patellofemoral Joint Capsule Using Arthroscopic Laser Surgery (Preliminary Report)

Abstract
Based on the collective findings of the application of laser energy at non-ablative levels can alter collagen's structural and biochemical properties we used the same technique on patellofemoral joint capsule of four patients combining with lateral release. Holmium: YAG laser was used for these procedures. Power settings were 1 J and 10 Hz for medial shrinkage and 1.5 J and 20 Hz for lateral release.
