Abstract

Purpose: In this study, effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen for diabetic foot which is a complex problem was evaluated. Material and
Method: In the study group there were 21 patients having Wagner Grade II and III lesions. The hiperbaric oxygen is applied 2.8 ATA, 90 minutes for five days per week.
Results: Effectiveness of treatment depends on blood sugar regulation general complications and chronicity of disease. 15 patients, could be treated without amputations by regulation of blood sugar level and hyperbaric oxygen. But amputation was required for 6 patients in whom blood sugar level regulation was not achieved.
Conclusion: Hyperbaric oxygen treatment, in addition to blood sugar level regulation can provide treatment without amputation for patients with Wagner Grade II and III diabetic foots.
