Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of body weight and release of relaxin in pregnancy on the incidence of pes planus. The study included 60 pregnant and 30 non-pregnant women. A total of 180 feet were evaluated with the foot print method of Harris and Beath. Results revealed that there was no significant increase in the incidence of pes planus in pregnant women in the second trimester of pregnancy when compared with non-pregnant women. However, there was significant increase in the incidence of pes planus in pregnant women in their third trimester when compared with control and pregnant women in their second trimester.
