1. Turkish Journal of Arthroplasty and Arthroscopic Surgery is the official publication of the Turkish Joint
Diseases Foundation (TEKTEV).
2. The journal welcomes original clinical and empirical scientific research articles, reviews and case reports
on arthroplasty, arthroscopy, general orthopedics, traumatology and rehabilitation written in Turkish or English.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original studies to attract readers' interest. The studies' evident
contribution to the field, the correctness of the results, the clear explanation of the methodology followed to allow the
study to be repeated independently are important.
3. The journal is published quarterly and a volume is formed of four issues.
4. Statements and opinions expressed in the articles are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the
editors and the publisher. Material appearing in the journal is covered by copyright.
5. In order to be published submitted material must be approved by the editorial board. A peer review will be
made by at least two referees and the editorial board has the right to accept, revise or reject the manuscript.
6. Manuscripts should be sent in triplicate (including tables and figures) with diskette (3.5") to
"Prof. Dr. O. Sahap ATIK, Bugday Sokak 6 / 27 Kavaklidere 06700 Ankara-TURKEY".
Manuscripts could also be sent to arthrop@mc.metu.edu.tr electronically. Mailing electronically will speed up the review
process. After the acceptance of the manuscript the latest version must be sent either on floppy disk or via e-mail to
the editor.
7. Preparation of the manuscript:
- The journal's requirements, which were updated in 1999, are in accordance with the "Uniform requirements for
manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals" (JAMA 1993; 269 (17): 2282-86.
- Print the manuscript with laser or inkjet printer on A4 standart paper with margins of at least 2.5 cm. Print on one
side only and use double spacing.
- Number pages consecutively beginning with the title page. Each part of the manuscript should begin on a new page in
the following sequence: Title page, abstract, text, acknowledgements, references, tables with titles, legends to figures.
Title Pages: There should be two title pages: one of them should carry a) The title of the article which should be
concise but informative, b) Short title of at most 35 letters c) Complete name of each author with highest academic
degrees and institutional affiliations, d) Name of the department(s) and institution(s), e) Name, address, phone, fax
number and e-mail of the author responsible for correspondence. The other two title pages should only contain a concise
informative title and it should not contain information about authors and their institutions.
Abstract: The second page should carry an abstract of minimum 150 and maximum 250 words both in Turkish and
English. The abstract should state the purpose of the study, main findings and the principal conclusions in separate
headings of introduction, material (patients) and methods, results, discussion. Abstract in English should contain title.
Add 3 to 5 key words to the abstract. Keywords must be chosen among the Med Subjects Heading (MeSH).
Text: The text of the article should be divided into sections with the headings introduction, material (patients)
and methods, results and discussion. The text should not exceed 6 pages. In the text, there should not be any information
about the institutions for which the authors work.
The introduction should state the purpose of the submitted article and summarize the rationale for
the study. Give only strictly pertinent references, do not review the article extensively and limit the introduction to
one page.
The methods should describe the selection of the observational or experimental subjects clearly.
Give references to established methods including statistics. When reporting experiments on human subjects indicate whether
the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards. Describe statistical methods with enough detail.
Give details on randomization.
Present results in logical sequence in the text, tables and illustrations. Do not repeat in the
text all the data in the tables or illustrations.
Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions in the section of
discussion. Relate the observations to other relevant studies.
References: Number references consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text.
Unpublished observations and personal communications should not be used. Use no more than 20 references unless necessary.
References will strictly be controlled and the author may be asked to provide the full text of any of the references.
They should be organized according to the following forms:
Article in Journal: The reference should include the full last name and initials of the first and middle names of all
authors, title of the article, abbreviated title of the journal according to the style used by the Index Medicus, year,
volume and pages.

8. Tables should be numbered consecutively in the order of the citation
in the text and printed separately on an A4 size paper with the required
margins. Each table should include a brief title on the same sheet.
9. Illustrations and figures should be professionally drawn and
photographed. Each figure should have a label pasted on its back indicating
the number of the figure, short title of the article and top of the figure.
Three seperate copies of original illustrations and figures should be
provided.

The copyright to this article is transfered to the Journal effective if and when the article
is accepted for publication. The copyright transfer covers the exclusive right to reproduce and distrubute the article,
including reprints, translations, photographic reproductions, microform, electronic form (offline, online) or any other
